The selection of hunting equipment available today is vast. Listed below are some guidelines on what to pack, rifle selection, archery equipment and accessories.

Suggested packing List

• 1 warm jacket
• 1 warm sweater
• 1 sweat suit
• 1 or 2 pairs of ankle high boots - I suggest the Courtney Boots from Westley Richards or Russels Moccasin
• 4 pairs socks
• 2 pairs of khaki shorts
• 3 Olive green shirts
• 2 pairs khaki trousers
• 1 hat or cap - I prefer a hat with a wide brim to protect the face from the sun
• 1 woollen cap
• 1 pair of gloves – leather or insulated
• Flashlight - Surefire makes a great light, the E2e executive is small, light gives a bright light, as does the Outdoorsman. Bring a couple of boxes of batteries too. You may have to do some tracking in the evening and a good light is essential
• Folding knife
• Ammo pouch - Westley Richards make fine leather ammo pouches
• Binoculars
• Rifles
• Ammunition – 50 rounds per rifle
• Belts
• Camera equipment
• Sunscreen lotion
• Rifle sling
• Mesh Head net - Bowhunters
• Mesh Gloves – Bowhunters
• 1 set of thermal underwear

NB: South Africa uses 220 - volt appliances.

Bowhunters and rifle hunters may wear camo clothing - it is legal in South Africa.

For the bowhunting I use camo - Natgear and Advantage Hardwood are best, and for rifle hunting I prefer an olive green shirt and Khaki pants or shorts. See www.berettausa.com
