Hunting Season Hunts can be arranged all year round, however, the months of April to October are regarded as the prime hunting period. During the summer months the temperatures are high and the foliage is thick and this is the time that the annual rains set in. Climate The country falls squarely within the sub-tropical belt of high pressure, making it dry, but with an abundance of sunshine. Temperatures range from very hot during the day to below freezing on winter nights. See list of recommended clothin Travel Arrangements Travel arrangements can be made by your local travel agent to Johannesburg International Airport. We recommend flying with South African Airways, as they are familiar with the transportation of firearms. From Johannesburg you can fly to the airport nearest your hunting area, where you will be met by one of our professional hunters and driven to camp. Charter Flights A charter flight can be arranged for you from Johannesburg International Airport to all of the various camps throughout South Africa and Zimbabwe . Prices can be discussed with the outfitter, as they will depend on the aircraft being used. Rifles On arrival at Johannesburg International Airport your rifles will be inspected and you will be issued with an import permit for the duration of your stay. Rifle caliber should be chosen according to the species to be hunted, and can be discussed with the outfitter before your hunt. For plains game a rifle in the .30 caliber class will be sufficient. For the larger antelope and dangerous game the minimum caliber would be a .375. Insurance We suggest that all hunters and observers obtain all risk, travel and medical insurance for the duration of their stay. Health Precautions Malaria occurs in Zimbabwe and northern Kwa-Zulu Natal and precautions against malaria are essential. Please consult with your doctor six weeks prior to your departure. The Limpopo Province, Eastern Cape and Kalahari are not considered malaria areas. There are no other inoculations or medication required. However, we suggest that you consult with your doctor prior to your departure.
